Telangana Assembly passes resolution urging Centre to act on West Asia conflict

Hyderabad, Mar 30, (TNT):  The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution urging the Union Government to take initiative to stop the ongoing conflict in West Asia and work towards ensuring global peace.

The resolution was introduced by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who said the war between Iran and Israel was escalating and taking multiple forms, impacting global stability.

He said the conflict has disrupted crude oil production and transportation, affecting supply chains of petroleum products such as petrol, diesel and gas, with adverse implications for economies worldwide, including India.

Referring to the ongoing hostilities, he said the United States and Israel were carrying out attacks on Iran and Lebanon, while Iran was targeting U.S. defence bases in Gulf and Middle Eastern regions using advanced weaponry, including fighter bombers, ballistic missiles and drones.

He said nearly 4,000 people had lost their lives in the conflict, while large-scale economic damage was also being reported.

Vikramarka said that while the loss of lives may be confined to the affected regions, the economic impact was being felt globally, particularly in Asian countries, including India.

Warning of further escalation, he said the situation could become more dangerous if the conflict continues, posing a threat to global peace and stability.

The House urged the Government of India to take proactive steps to de-escalate tensions and play a role in restoring peace.
