Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Meets Maneka Gandhi Delegation, Reviews Animal Welfare Measures

Hyderabad, Mar 29 (TNT) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday held a meeting with a delegation led by Animal rights activist and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi to review measures related to stray dog management and cattle protection in the state.

The meeting was attended by State IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Chief Secretary Ramkrishna Rao, commissioners of municipal corporations and senior officials.

Officials briefed the delegation on steps being taken within municipal limits for managing stray dog populations and protecting cattle.

A detailed presentation was made on the ongoing sterilisation programme for stray dogs.

The Chief Minister said the government had already drawn up comprehensive plans for cattle protection across the state.

He noted that the foundation stone had been laid for a modern gaushala with advanced facilities at Enkepalli.

He added that proposals were also in place to establish gaushalas at multiple locations, including near temples.

Maneka Gandhi expressed satisfaction with the measures being taken and appreciated the state government’s efforts in strengthening animal welfare initiatives.

As Chief Patron of the Greater Hyderabad Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, she inaugurated a new animal ambulance and inspected the multi-speciality animal hospital under construction in Begum Bazaar on Saturday.

The visit underscored her continued engagement with animal welfare issues in the state, including previous interventions on concerns such as illegal animal practices.
