Hyderabad, Mar 29 (TNT): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday claimed a growing support base in Telangana ahead of the upcoming GHMC elections, with several youth, local welfare associations and leaders from other parties joining the organisation.
A large number of youth and members of welfare associations joined the party in the presence of Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao at Dilsukhnagar here.
Addressing the gathering, Rao said the steady influx of people into the party was a “clear signal of an impending political transformation” in the state.
He said joining programmes were being held almost daily at the party headquarters.
“It is not just politicians, but youth and residents’ welfare associations are choosing BJP. Former sarpanches and activists from BRS and Congress are increasingly seeing BJP as a credible alternative for Telangana’s future,” he said.
Launching an attack on the Congress government, Rao alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was attempting to divert public attention from governance issues by raising proposals related to religious structures along the Musi river.
Referring to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, he said it was constructed through public contributions and not government funds.
The BJP leader alleged that Hyderabad had been neglected during the ten-year rule of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and continued to face issues under the current Congress government.
Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said infrastructure development, including national highways and connectivity around Hyderabad, had improved significantly.
He added that initiatives such as “Make in India” and “Stand Up India” had generated employment opportunities, particularly in defence and mobile manufacturing sectors.
On reports of fuel shortages, Rao dismissed concerns, stating that there was no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG under the Centre’s leadership and that prices had been managed to reduce the burden on citizens.
He urged intellectuals, women and youth to support the BJP in the GHMC elections to end what he termed “family-based politics” and “corrupt Congress rule”.
Rao also called upon party workers to celebrate the BJP’s Foundation Day on April 6 by hoisting the party flag at their homes.
