Telangana Dy CM Slams BRS for Disruptions, Backs Probe into Mining, Dharani Irregularities

Hyderabad, Mar 29 (TNT):Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Sunday criticised Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislators for disrupting Assembly proceedings, asserting that such behaviour undermines democratic functioning.

Speaking in the Assembly, Bhatti said the House is meant for taking crucial decisions for public welfare and future needs, and it was inappropriate for BRS MLAs to create disturbances during budget discussions.

Recalling his tenure as a Congress MLA between 2014 and 2023, he said Congress members had maintained decorum and never resorted to acts such as tearing budget papers or disrupting proceedings.

He said the government had introduced a humanitarian bill concerning parents of government employees, but BRS members disrupted the discussion by raising slogans and clapping, despite being aware of Assembly rules and parliamentary practices.

The Deputy Chief Minister also objected to the disclosure of a minister’s name without prior notice, calling it a violation of Assembly norms.

Referring to allegations raised by BRS members, he said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had already announced a probe by the CBCID into irregularities in the mining sector from 2014 to March 28, 2026.

He said BRS should welcome the decision instead of obstructing proceedings.

Bhatti criticised the functioning of House Committees during the previous BRS regime, stating that although three committees were formed, none held meetings or submitted reports.

He alleged that they were instead used for political purposes, including pressuring MLAs facing allegations.

He further accused BRS of attempting to derail discussions on welfare schemes, including initiatives like the breakfast scheme for students, by deliberately disrupting the House.

Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he questioned its inaction on the demand for a CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram project despite repeated calls over the past several months, alleging that BJP and BRS appeared to be aligned.

Raising the issue of land records, he alleged that lands distributed to the poor during previous Congress governments were placed under Part-B in the Dharani portal and reassigned to select individuals during the BRS regime.

Welcoming the Chief Minister’s announcement, the Deputy Chief Minister supported the proposal to constitute a House Committee to probe land irregularities linked to Dharani and alleged illegal transfers in Balanagar.

He challenged BRS leaders to agree to the House Committee if they had faith in the system, asserting that the government was committed to transparency and accountability.
