BRS Seeks Minister Ponguleti’s Dismissal Over Mining Allegations, KTR Warns of Governor Move

Hyderabad, Mar 29 (TNT): Bharat Rashtra Samithi on Sunday demanded the immediate dismissal of Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy over allegations of corruption and illegal mining, warning that it would approach the Governor if the government fails to act.

BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao said the party would escalate the issue and take it to the public if necessary. He alleged that revelations made by BRS Legislature Party Deputy Leader T. Harish Rao had exposed a major scam involving a senior minister.

KTR claimed that documentary evidence sourced from government records pointed to violations and illegal mining activities by a company  (Raghava Constructions) linked to the minister’s family.

He questioned why action was taken against other firms but not against Raghava Constructions, raising doubts over the government’s intent.

He said the Chief Minister had acknowledged irregularities but attempted to deflect responsibility, terming the claim that the firm belonged to “distant relatives” as untenable.

KTR alleged that the minister’s immediate family members were directly linked to the company and that the minister himself had served as its chairman between 2020 and 2022.

Further, he alleged that the Chief Minister’s defence of the firm indicated possible involvement, and flagged contract allocations under the Kodangal Lift Irrigation Project and alleged land irregularities.

Accusing the government of inaction, KTR said despite evidence, no steps had been taken against the minister’s family firm.

He also criticised attempts to downplay the issue, citing detection of violations worth ₹32 lakh in a single day, indicating a larger scam.

He alleged discrepancies in mining revenue realisation and flagged another firm, Bhagyalakshmi Mining in Kokapet, as being linked to a relative of the Chief Minister.

The party demanded a House Committee probe into the roles of the minister and others, recalling precedents such as the Obulapuram mining case.

KTR also criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party  (BJP)  for allegedly failing to act as an effective opposition.

On the Hyderabad Metro issue, he accused the government of misleading the public on valuation and land ownership, alleging that the move would transfer private debt burden onto the public.

He termed it a “land scam blueprint” and demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge.

Reiterating the party’s stand, KTR warned that if no action is taken, BRS will approach the Governor and intensify its agitation.
