Food Security Not Enough, Nutrition for Children Top Priority’: Telangana CM Launches ‘Toli Mudda’ Scheme

Hyderabad, Mar 28 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday said food security alone is not sufficient and emphasised that ensuring nutritious food for children is the State Government’s top priority.

Launching the ‘Toli Mudda’ breakfast scheme for Anganwadi Children at Assembly Conference Hall here , Reddy said lack of proper nutrition is a major cause of health ailments among children and remains a matter of concern.

The Chief Minister underlined the importance of mental and physical development in children below six years of age, stating that the new scheme aims to improve health outcomes from an early stage.

He noted that the government is already providing nutritious food to pregnant women through Anganwadi centres from the time of conception.

Recalling the contributions of Jawaharlal Nehru, he said the country’s first Prime Minister had prioritised education and irrigation to tackle illiteracy and strengthen agriculture.

Reddy assured that the government will resolve pending issues of Anganwadi staff and urged them to implement the breakfast scheme in letter and spirit, caring for children as their own.

He also directed officials to prepare plans for constructing permanent buildings for Anganwadi centres and to phase out operations from private buildings.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also distributed Mobiles to Anganwadi Teachers.
