Hyderabad, Mar 25 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said the state government is committed to large-scale green energy production and is exploring a proposal to develop one solar-powered village in every mandal.
Replying to members’ queries during Question Hour in the Assembly, Bhatti said the proposal is under examination as part of efforts to expand renewable energy adoption at the grassroots level.
He said a pilot initiative is already underway in 81 villages, covering both domestic and agricultural sectors.
Under the programme, solar power systems are being installed for 38,216 households and 16,078 agricultural pump sets,he said.
Under the PM Surya Ghar Bijli Yojana, rooftop solar systems of 2 kW capacity have been installed in 40,349 homes across the state.
For the agriculture sector, the Deputy CM said 7.5 kW high-rise solar plants have been set up under PM-KUSUM Component-C, benefiting 16,708 pump sets.
Bhatti said the government aims to scale up such initiatives to promote clean energy, reduce power costs and ensure sustainable development across Telangana.
