APPCB, CII Launch Green Rating Initiative for Industries at Sri City in Tirupati Dist.

Sri City, Mar 25 (TNT): An awareness session on sustainable industrial practices was held at Sri City on Wednesday, where the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) jointly launched the Green Rating for Industries initiative.

The session, chaired by APPCB Chairman Dr P Krishnaiah (Retd IAS), brought together industry leaders, policymakers and sustainability experts to promote green building adoption and environmentally responsible industrial growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Krishnaiah said industrial development must go hand in hand with environmental protection and public health, and highlighted the state’s focus on increasing green cover and initiatives such as the proposed coastal “Great Green Wall”.

Sri City Managing Director Dr Ravindra Sannareddy said sustainability is integral to the industrial hub’s development model, with emphasis on green buildings, renewable energy and efficient water and waste management systems.

CII GreenCo South Andhra Pradesh Cluster Chairman Nihal Kaul said optimisation of energy, water and waste not only supports environmental goals but also enhances operational efficiency, adding that GreenCo and IGBC ratings are helping industries align with ESG standards.

Dr N Muthusezhiyan of the CII Green Business Centre said the APPCB–CII collaboration provides structured frameworks to help industries measure and improve sustainability performance across key parameters.

Responding to industry queries, Dr Krishnaiah said plans are underway to establish comprehensive waste management and e-waste recycling facilities around Sri City.

The session concluded with a call for stronger collaboration among regulators and industry stakeholders to drive sustainable and future-ready industrial growth in Andhra Pradesh.
