Hyderabad, Mar 24 (TNT): Blue Star Limited on Tuesday rolled out a 125-model room air conditioner portfolio for Summer 2026, sharpening its focus on premiumisation, energy efficiency and deeper market penetration as India’s cooling demand enters a high-growth phase.
The expanded lineup spanning inverter, fixed-speed and window ACs aligns with the revised Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) norms and is positioned to capture both first-time buyers in emerging markets and replacement demand in urban centres, the company said in a release here.
The company is targeting a structural upcycle in the room AC industry, which is projected to grow from around 14 million units to 30 million units by FY30, driven by rising incomes, rapid urbanisation and increasing climate intensity.
Tier-3, Tier-4 and Tier-5 markets are expected to be the key growth engines, outpacing metros on a lower base.
As part of its premiumisation strategy, Blue Star introduced the ‘Iconia’ range’, alongside flagship categories such as super energy-efficient ACs, heavy-duty models and hot-and-cold variants.
The high-efficiency segment, with ISEER ratings up to 6.25, is aimed at consumers seeking lower lifecycle costs amid rising power tariffs.
The company is also leveraging technology differentiation, with nearly 50 models offering smart WiFi-enabled features such as AI-driven cooling, voice control and energy management systems, aligning with the growing demand for connected home appliances.
To support anticipated volume growth, Blue Star has scaled up its manufacturing capacity to 1.4 million units, with the ability to expand to 1.8 million units across facilities in Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, reflecting a calibrated capacity build-out strategy.
Beyond residential cooling, the company continues to strengthen its commercial refrigeration portfolio, tapping into rising demand from food retail, quick commerce and healthcare sectors that require reliable cold-chain infrastructure.
With a distribution footprint covering over 900 towns and 10,000 outlets, backed by more than 2,100 service partners, Blue Star is positioning itself to capitalise on the next wave of AC adoption, particularly in underpenetrated geographies.
The company said nearly 150 million households in India are expected to become AC-affordable in the coming years, offering significant headroom for growth and reinforcing its long-term expansion strategy.
