Kakinada, Jan 30 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh on Friday said that the State government is committed to decentralisation of development to ensure balanced growth across all regions.
Addressing students during a face-to-face interaction titled “Hello Lokesh” organised at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK) here, Lokesh responded to questions regarding industries proposed for the Godavari districts.
He said that under the cluster-based development approach, the Godavari region has significant potential in green molecules. The government is encouraging aqua research in both East and West Godavari districts, and industries compatible with the local ecosystem would be promoted.
“Palm oil and coconut-based industries have great potential in these districts,” he added.
Replying to a question on the State’s policy on green and renewable energy, Lokesh said green energy would play a key role in the coming years.
He noted that India is poised to become a global supplier of green ammonia.
“Priority is being given to green power, including solar, wind and pumped storage projects. Andhra Pradesh is now manufacturing energy substitutes,” he said.
Stating that India is set to emerge as a leader in the green energy sector, the Minister added that the country would become an energy molecule exporter.
He pointed out that India’s first green ammonia export project was recently launched in Kakinada.
