Hyderabad, Mar 13 (TNT): Netflix launched its ‘Eyeline Studios’, its global production and innovation studio, in Hyderabad’s Hitech city, marking a significant long-term investment in India’s Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sector.
The new facility spread over 32,000 square feet was inaugurated by Chief Minister A Revanth
Reddy along with the IT Minister D Sridhar Babu here on Thursday.
the new facility is Eyeline’s fifth global hub after Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul and London.
The launch forms part of Netflix’s strategy to expand its global production innovation infrastructure and strengthen its presence in India’s rapidly growing creative technology ecosystem.
Revanth Reddy said Hyderabad was a natural home for netflix and Eyeline because the city brought together creativity, technology and global talent.
He invited Netflix to set up its India corporate headquarters in the porposed Future City where the government would allot a bigger space.
Speaking at the launch, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said Hyderabad has emerged as a vibrant hub for creative technologies, audiovisual storytelling and digital entertainment.
He said India has a rich storytelling tradition, but the formats and platforms are evolving rapidly with technological advancements.
“Today, entertainment lies at the intersection of art and technology, and initiatives such as Eyeline will play an important role in shaping the future of storytelling,” he noted.
Jaju said Eyeline Studios would serve as a key centre in South Asia, integrating technological innovation with storytelling and opening new opportunities for the audiovisual and entertainment sectors.
Referring to the World Audiovisual Entertainment Summit held in Mumbai last year, he recalled that Narendra Modi had highlighted the importance of the “Orange Economy”, which focuses on creative and cultural industries.
He also noted that the Union Budget had announced the establishment of 15,000 content creator labs in schools and 500 in colleges across the country, which are expected to generate nearly two million jobs in the creative sector.
Jaju expressed confidence that Hyderabad would play a key role in this growth due to its strong presence in the AVGC sector.
The city has produced globally acclaimed films such as Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and hosts several international studios engaged in production and post-production work.
He also announced that the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies will soon open a regional campus in Hyderabad to further strengthen the ecosystem for creative technologies and content creation.
Jaju said Hyderabad’s vibrant Telugu film industry, which produces several pan-India and multilingual films, will benefit from the presence of global platforms such as Netflix and initiatives like Eyeline, creating more opportunities for high-quality content creation.
In a video message, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandow said India was one of the world’s most dynamic storytellign markets, with extraordinary creative voices, technical depth and production scale.
