APGENCO Records Highest-Ever Power Generation: Energy Minister

Amaravati, Mar 12 (TNT) : Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) has achieved its highest-ever power generation, recording 6,160 MW with 5,730 MW ex-bus generation, marking a historic milestone since the corporation’s inception, Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar said on Thursday.

Reviewing the performance of power utilities through a virtual meeting with officials, Gottipati said maintaining high levels of generation is essential to meet the growing electricity demand during the upcoming summer season and to ensure uninterrupted supply to domestic, industrial and commercial consumers.

He attributed the achievement to the efforts of power utilities under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and congratulated the teams of APGENCO and Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Limited for reaching the milestone.

The minister also directed officials to remain fully prepared for the summer power demand, especially considering the possible impact of El Niño conditions, and to take necessary steps to ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply across the state.

He said the utilities were able to meet record power demand while maintaining stable transmission operations, adding that the achievement reflects the coordinated efforts of engineers, employees and plant teams working round the clock.

Ravi Kumar also asked the Energy Department and power utilities to closely monitor demand trends, maximise available generation capacity and make advance arrangements to meet electricity requirements during the peak summer months.

The minister congratulated Special Chief Secretary (Energy) K. Vijayanand, APGENCO Managing Director P. Pulla Reddy and officials for their role in achieving the milestone.

He said the state government is also strengthening power infrastructure by constructing new substations to ensure reliable electricity supply across Andhra Pradesh.

Senior officials from major thermal stations including Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant and Dr. Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station participated in the review meeting.
