Uruguay–Scotland Match Kicks Off at Women’s Hockey Championship in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Mar 11 (TNT): The Uruguay–Scotland clash in the ongoing Women’s Hockey World Championship 2026 was formally inaugurated at the Gachibowli Stadium, here on Wednesday.

State Director of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy inaugurated the match by meeting the players on the field and striking the ball to mark the start of the contest.

The game, played under the full-base card line format, witnessed an intense contest between Uruguay and Scotland, keeping spectators engaged throughout.

Following the match, the DGP presented the Player of the Match award to a Scotland player for her outstanding performance.

The international championship, inaugurated on March 8 by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, features teams from India, England, Italy, Austria, South Korea, Scotland, Uruguay, and Wales.

Officials from the Hockey India and the Sports Authority of Telangana felicitated the DGP on the occasion.

Shivdhar Reddy also appreciated the organisers for successfully hosting the international tournament and completing the arrangements within a short time.
