BenQ Eyes 50% Growth in India; Contract Manufacturing Unit to Begin in AP

Hyderabad, Mar 10 (TNT):BenQ, a global leader in display technology and solutions, expects around 50 per cent growth in India this year as it strengthens its focus on premium display technologies, projectors and education solutions.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Rajeev Singh, Managing Director, South Asia at BenQ India, said the company’s strategy will continue to focus on display-based products such as monitors and projectors, while ancillary features like speakers will remain secondary.

Singh said the consumer LCD monitor market in India is estimated at around 2.5 million units annually and has largely matured, with growth now driven by consumer upgrades to larger screens.

Demand is shifting from 15.6-inch, 18.5-inch and 21.5-inch monitors to 24-inch and 27-inch displays, with the 27-inch segment witnessing the fastest growth, he said.

He said the global chip shortage has had limited impact on monitors, though currency fluctuations and rising component prices have pushed up device costs. Monitor prices have increased by about 5 per cent, while other devices such as laptops could see price hikes of 10–15 per cent.

BenQ is also participating in government education initiatives, including smart classroom projects in Telangana, Delhi and Assam, with a business pipeline of around ₹500 crore** in the education segment.

On manufacturing, Singh said BenQ currently produces some products through contract manufacturing units in Kutch (Gujarat), while another similar facility in Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh)  is set to begin operations later this month.

The company has no plans to enter the television market, citing low margins, and will instead focus on advanced display technologies that could serve as alternatives to traditional TVs, he said.

Monitors in BenQ’s portfolio are priced between ₹7,500 and ₹2 lakh, while projectors range from ₹30,000 to ₹6 lakh depending on specifications.

The company has also developed specialised monitors for Apple Mac users and plans to launch additional Mac-compatible models next month, he said.

BenQ currently operates through around 250 resellers and retail outlets in Telangana, which contributes about 8 per cent of its India revenue. The state recorded 27 per cent year-on-year growth in 2025, supported by more than 100 channel partners and eight service centres, he said.

In the B2C projector segment, South India accounts for 48 per cent of BenQ’s consumer projector business, with Telangana contributing 16.3 per cent of the region’s revenue.

The company’s Interactive Flat Panel (IFP) segment has also seen strong traction, registering 36 per cent growth in FY2025-26 and contributing around 7 per cent to overall sales, he said.

As part of the Telangana government’s smart education initiatives, BenQ has equipped more than 8,700 classrooms across the state with technology-enabled learning solutions, Singh added.
