Hyderabad, Mar 10 (TNT): Telangana State Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha on Tuesday directed officials to simplify procedures to promote organ donations, saying the state’s organ transplant framework should serve as a model for the country. 
Rajanarsimha held a high-level review meeting with private hospital managements at the Secretariat, focusing on the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA) policy and implementation of the Clinical Establishment Act.
Discussions included organ transplant treatments, policy development, and regulating treatment costs in private hospitals.
The Minister urged hospitals to ensure donated organs are not wasted and instructed officials to develop procedures for patients arriving from abroad for transplants.
He also assured full support from the state government and health department to address challenges faced by private hospitals.
Currently, four hospitals in Telangana are authorised for hand transplant procedures.
Rajanarsimha emphasised that medical costs should not burden ordinary citizens and said a framework for regulating tariffs in private hospitals is underway.
The meeting was attended by Health Secretary Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu, Director of Medical Education Dr. Narendra Kumar, Director of Jeevan Daan Dr. Sree Bhushan Raj, Commissioner of Telangana Medical Policy Council Dr. Ajay Kumar, along with representatives from several private hospitals.
