Hyderabad, Mar 3 (TNT): Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Tuesday urged the Telangana Government to release a comprehensive White Paper detailing the financial condition of the state ahead of the budget session commencing on March 16.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Kishan Reddy highlighted that during the 2023 Assembly elections, the Congress Party made 420 promises to the people of Telangana, including six major guarantees.
He noted that despite assuming office, the Chief Minister has reportedly avoided implementing these promises, citing financial constraints in the state treasury.
The Union Minister pointed out that since 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the NDA government has provided nearly ₹12 lakh crore for Telangana’s development and welfare, including tax allocations, infrastructure projects, railway and road development, education, health, and agriculture support through schemes like PM-Kisan, Rythu Bharosa, and the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI).
Kishan Reddy also noted that even prestigious state programmes rely on interest-free loans from the Centre, highlighting the challenging financial situation in Telangana.
He stressed the need for transparency and urged the Chief Minister to present the facts to the people of Telangana through a detailed White Paper before the upcoming budget session.
The letter concludes with a formal request from the Union Minister on behalf of the citizens of Telangana, emphasizing the importance of financial transparency in governance.
