Tollywood Actor Mahesh Babu joins Shortgun Games as strategic investor to develop global video game franchises

Hyderabad, Nov 3 (TNT): Tollywood Actor Mahesh Babu has joined Mumbai-based gaming development studio Shortgun Games as a strategic investor to support the development of original video game franchises for PC and modern gaming consoles, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The partnership will focus on developing original intellectual properties for international markets, with the studio’s flagship project, PROJECT TAKEDOWN, a high-budget action-adventure game, being positioned for a global audience.

Shortgun Games, founded by Jeet Chandan and Vidhit Mehta, is focusing on developing games exclusively for PC and console platforms, with an aim to create high-quality gaming experiences for international markets.

Mahesh Babu said he joined the venture as he believed in the founders’ ambition to create original characters and cinematic worlds that could appeal to global audiences.

He said interactive entertainment offered an opportunity to bring together storytelling, technology and global culture.

The studio has roped in action director Vicky Arora, who has worked on films including Uri: The Surgical Strike, RRR and Tanaav, to lead the action design for PROJECT TAKEDOWN.

Arora’s team is overseeing motion-capture choreography, combat pre-visualisation and physical stunt mechanics for the game.

Shortgun Games co-founder Vidhit Mehta said Mahesh Babu’s association marked a significant milestone for the studio, while Jeet Chandan said the partnership would help expand its technical capabilities and creative talent to build cross-media franchises with global appeal.
