Telangana CM Distributes Rs 5 Lakh Compensation to Families of 44 Madina Bus Tragedy Victims

Hyderabad, Feb 28 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday  handed over compensation cheques to the families of 44 Hyderabad residents who were killed in a tragic bus accident near Madina in Saudi Arabia on November 17, 2025.

The Chief Minister distributed Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased, while an injured survivor was given Rs 3 lakh as financial assistance.

The victims were reportedly charred to death in the mishap.

Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy said he immediately contacted the Centre after learning about the accident and deputed Minority Welfare Minister Azharuddin to Madina to oversee relief measures.

He said the State Cabinet had decided to extend compensation considering the plight of the bereaved families.

“Though governments generally do not provide compensation for accidents occurring outside the country, we decided to support the families on humanitarian grounds,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the government had earlier extended assistance to victims of the Nampally fire accident as well, stressing that it was important to instill confidence among people that the government stands by them in times of distress.

He added that the families were invited to the Secretariat to personally hand over the cheques as a mark of solidarity.

Revanth Reddy said the government would continue to stand with the people in their hardships and happiness and called for communal harmony, noting that the current month is sacred for the Muslim community.

Several ministers including Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin , advisors, public representatives and officials attended the programme.
