Hyderabad Police Goes High-Tech with Generative AI–Based Duty Allocation System for CAR Unit

Hyderabad, Jan 27 (TNT): In a significant push towards technology-driven and transparent policing, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Tuesday launched a Generative AI–based Duty Allocation System for the City Armed Reserve (CAR) unit, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in the department.

Developed in a record time of about two months, the AI-powered system aims to eliminate subjectivity, delays and allegations of bias that often accompanied the conventional manual duty allocation process, a release said here.

Speaking at the launch, Sajjanar said the new platform would bring greater efficiency, transparency and fairness, while substantially reducing the administrative burden on officers.

The system replaces the manual process, which was time-consuming and error-prone, with an automated, data-driven mechanism.

It uses the Hungarian Method, a score-based allocation algorithm, to assign duties without human intervention. Parameters such as seniority, number of days spent in reserve, rewards, disciplinary record and health scores are factored in to ensure equitable distribution of duties, the Commissioner explained.

In a notable innovation, the platform also leverages OpenAI APIs to instantly generate personalised official posting orders, completely doing away with manual paperwork.

A built-in AI chat assistant allows CAR personnel to seek real-time clarification on duty rules and allocation logic, enhancing transparency and reducing the need for extensive training or repeated queries.

During its initial run, the system successfully processed 1,796 applications and allocated 208 posts across key categories, including Secretariat duties, Chief Minister’s Office, Traffic Police and Interceptor Vehicles, demonstrating its operational readiness.

Sajjanar said the initiative reflects the Hyderabad Police’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies to streamline internal processes, enabling the force to devote more time and resources to core policing responsibilities and public safety.

The Commissioner also expressed appreciation to Trinath Babu and Sunil Regula of Hansa Equity Partners LLP for their key role in developing the system. Duty allotment orders generated through the AI platform were formally distributed to CAR Headquarters constables during the event.

The launch programme was attended by Additional Commissioners of Police M. Srinivas and Tafseer Iqbal, Joint Commissioners D. Joel Davis and Swetha, Deputy Commissioner of Police (CAR Headquarters) R. Venkateshwarlu, along with DCPs of all zones, senior officers and staff.
