Odisha’s Angul Dist. Collector extends Naini coal transport hours for Telangana power plants
Hyderabad, Oct 26 (TNT) : The Angul District Collector in Odisha has extended the permitted hours for coal transportation from the Naini Coal Mine from four to six hours a day to facilitate increased supplies to Telangana’s thermal power stations, particularly the Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS), Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TGGENCO) said on Monday.
In a release, the Corporation said the transportation window has been extended from midnight to 4 am to 11 pm to 5 am, enabling greater movement of coal to meet the fuel requirements of the power plants.
TGGENCO has been transporting coal from the Naini Coal Mine in Angul district to YTPS since August 2026.
However, the targeted quantity could not be achieved due to restrictions imposed by the local administration on coal movement to the railway siding, the corporation said.
TGGENCO Chairman and Managing Director S. Harish and Director (Coal and Logistics) B. Nagya met the Angul District Collector on Monday and explained the need to achieve the targeted coal transportation to meet the requirements of the corporation’s thermal power stations.
The CMD had also written to the Collector seeking an extension of the permitted transportation hours to improve coal movement and ensure adequate fuel supplies to the power plants, it added.
