Telangana:BJP accuses Congress of creating anarchy, announces padayatra on Nov 2
Hyderabad, Oct 26 (TNT) : Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday accused the Congress of attempting to create political unrest out of frustration over being out of power and announced a statewide campaign, including a padayatra on November 2, under the slogan ‘Loktantra Bachao – Arachakata Hatao’ (Save Democracy – Remove Anarchy).
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office here, Rao condemned Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s reported remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s family and alleged that Congress leaders were resorting to derogatory language against the Prime Minister’s parents after failing to convince voters through their campaign.
Rao said the BJP would burn Congress effigies in Hyderabad and at district headquarters across Telangana in protest against what he described as the party’s arrogant attitude.
On the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Rao rejected Congress allegations of large-scale deletion of eligible voters and challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to identify instances of wrongful deletion in his native village, Kondareddypally.
He maintained that every eligible citizen had a constitutional right to vote and called for evidence to substantiate claims of illegal deletions.
Referring to allegations that 13 crore votes had been deleted across the country, Rao cited figures relating to deceased, absent, migrated and duplicate voters, claiming that the Election Commission’s verification process had identified such cases.
He accused Congress leaders of spreading misinformation about the exercise.
Rao also criticised Revanth Reddy’s proposed visit to Delhi for a rally on November 1 against the SIR process, alleging that the Chief Minister was neglecting the state’s drought and drinking water problems.
Claiming that nearly 330 of Telangana’s more than 600 mandals were facing drought conditions, he said water levels in tanks had declined sharply and Hyderabad residents were increasingly dependent on water tankers.
He alleged that the state government should prioritise addressing these problems instead of focusing on political programmes in Delhi.
Rao further criticised the Congress leadership’s political agenda and accused the party of neglecting public issues.
He said the BJP would organise a padayatra on November 2 to highlight what it described as the Congress’s attempts to undermine democratic institutions.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah would personally participate in the padayatra, Rao announced.
