Telangana Jagruthi Prez Kavitha announces plans to float new party after clean chit in Delhi liquor case

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (TNT) : Shortly after securing a clean chit in the Delhi excise policy case, Telangana Jagruthi President and former MP, Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Friday announced that she would launch a new political party in the coming months.

Addressing the media afrter the judgement, Kavitha, the daughter of BRS Supremo and former Chief Minister KCR,  described the court verdict as a moral and political vindication.

She said she had always accepted electoral verdicts with humility, including her defeat in Nizamabad, and had never looked for scapegoats.

Kavitha rejected attempts to link the Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s (BRS) defeat in the Assembly elections to the excise policy case, terming such claims politically motivated.

She said the party’s loss was due to internal shortcomings, including non-delivery on jobs, housing and welfare promises, distribution of tickets to “undeserving” candidates and a growing disconnect with the electorate.

“Blaming a fabricated case for electoral defeat is an attempt to escape accountability,” she said.

In a post on ‘X, BRS Workering President KTR alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government led by Arvind Kejriwal was brought down in the name of the “so-called liquor scam”.

KTR , the brother of Kavitha, further claimed that the political fallout of the narrative had also adversely impacted the BRS in both the Assembly and Parliament elections.

In remarks seen as critical of the party leadership, Kavitha questioned the lack of public defence at the time of her arrest and asked why there was no press conference or coordinated response in her support.

She also alleged that attempts were made to malign her through what she described as defamatory and misogynistic propaganda.

Stating that she would continue to work for the people irrespective of political backing, Kavitha appealed to the public to reject false narratives and stand against the targeting of women in public life.

Later in the day, Kavitha met the Chairman and members of the State Farmers Commission at BRK Bhavan and submitted a memorandum highlighting issues faced by farmers in Gadwal, Nizamabad and Khammam districts.
