Telangana aims to emerge as global aerospace, defence hub: Dy CM Bhatti
Hyderabad, Oct 24 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday said the State government is vigorously pursuing a strategic roadmap to position Telangana as a global aerospace and defence manufacturing capital, backed by uninterrupted quality power, transparent governance, single-window clearances, and localized job creation.
Delivering the keynote address at the Defence Expo curtain-raiser held at Taj Falaknuma Palace organised under the aegis of the upcoming Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, Bhatti stressed that capital inflows must lead to tangible industrial output, sustainable jobs, and supply-chain linkages for domestic micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) rather than remaining paper announcements.
“Investments should not remain confined to MoUs and press declarations; they must translate into actual factory floors, increased local production, and apprenticeships for our youth,” the Deputy Chief Minister said, calling upon multinational primes to integrate regional vendors into their global supply chains.
Highlighting the zero-tolerance standard required in strategic sectors, Bhatti, who holds the Finance, Planning, and Energy portfolios, observed that precision and absolute reliability remain paramount in aerospace and defence, where component integrity directly impacts human lives and national security.
In turn, he pledged that the State administration would ensure statutory permissions, power utility infrastructure, and institutional incentive disbursements function without administrative friction.
Addressing the state’s energy strategy, Bhatti noted that accelerating solar generation capacity alone cannot satisfy high-precision manufacturing without round-the-clock grid stability.
To meet the demanding operational cycles of defence manufacturing units, the government is ramping up renewable integration, modernizing grid architecture, and investing in advanced energy storage systems (BESS).
On fiscal prudence, the Deputy Chief Minister maintained that state-funded subsidies and industrial incentives must yield measurable public dividends through high-value employment, indigenous capacity building, and domestic vendor development.
He urged industrial conglomerates to forge training tie-ups with the newly established Telangana Skills University and Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) initiated under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership.
“A young person’s first apprenticeship or technical placement transforms the financial trajectory of an entire family. Global majors must partner with our institutions to mentor local suppliers to achieve global quality benchmarks,” he added, stressing the need to expand indigenous R&D and core design capabilities alongside assembly lines.
Bhatti formally invited global defence majors, innovators, and policy experts to participate in the flagship Defence Expo slated for December 7–9, calling on industry leaders to offer direct inputs to refine the State’s industrial policy framework.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, former Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari, former DRDO Chairman Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, US Consul General Laura Williams, along with top defence scientists, military veterans, and corporate leaders, attended the high-profile curtain-raiser.
