Incision-free TULSA-PRO prostate cancer treatment expands clinical footprint in India via KIMS Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Oct 22 (TNT) : Medical technology distributor DSS Imagetech on Thursday highlighted the clinical footprint of the TULSA-PRO system in India, an advanced MRI-guided, incision-free, and radiation-free intervention designed for the targeted ablation of diseased prostate tissue.
Manufactured by Canada-based Profound Medical Corp and brought to India through an exclusive partnership with DSS Imagetech, the platform is currently operational at KIMS Hospitals in Hyderabad, the first and sole healthcare facility in India and South Asia offering the treatment, the company said in a release.
The US FDA-cleared and CE-marked medical device combines real-time Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) feedback with robotically controlled transurethral directional ultrasound thermal energy.
Under continuous MRI thermal monitoring, clinicians deliver precise heat ablation to targeted malignant or enlarged prostate tissue from the inside out, while actively cooling and sparing the surrounding neurovascular bundles and urethra.
Medical experts note that preserving adjacent healthy tissues significantly mitigates common post-procedure morbidities, helping patients retain urinary continence and erectile function.
Anish Kaushal, Business Head (Medical Division) at DSS Imagetech Pvt Ltd and spokesperson for TULSA-PRO, emphasized that greater awareness of minimally invasive modalities allows patients to make informed therapeutic choices without compromising their quality of life.
“When healthcare providers and companies regularly and transparently share the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer, patients are better equipped to make informed decisions,” Kaushal said. “With its minimally invasive, targeted approach, TULSA-PRO aims to support recovery while helping eligible patients preserve urinary continence and functional erections, enabling them to return to their daily routines post-procedure,” Kaushal added.
Having completed over a year of clinical deployment in India, the technology offers reduced complication rates, shorter hospital stays, and accelerated recovery times compared to conventional radical prostatectomy and external beam radiation therapy.
