Southern States to forge joint security blueprint on cybercrime, drugs and terrorism at Hyderabad conclave
Hyderabad, Oct 22 (TNT) : Police chiefs and senior law enforcement officers from southern States and Union Territories will convene here on Friday to formulate a joint tactical strategy against cross-border criminal networks, terrorism, drug syndicates, and sophisticated cybercrime.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will participate as the chief guest at the high-level Southern Regional Police Coordination Committee meeting, hosted at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC).
In a release, Telangana Director-General of Police C.V. Anand said the conference has been organised to establish real-time intelligence exchange protocols, align inter-state police action, and reinforce coordinated operational responses against emerging national security threats.
The conclave will bring together Directors-General of Police (DGPs) and Inspectors-General (IGPs) from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala, along with senior leadership from the Union Territories of Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Top officials representing key central intelligence and investigative agencies—including the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)—will also participate in the joint deliberations.
Key security challenges high on the agenda include:
-
Counter-terrorism strategies and assessing the evolving post-Maoist security scenario across interstate junctions.
-
Coordinated crackdowns on synthetic drug trafficking cartels and organized illicit networks.
-
Joint task-force frameworks to track interstate cybercrime syndicates and complex economic offences.
-
Curbing the interstate movement of organized criminal gangs, monitoring youth unrest, and dismantling human trafficking rings.
Delegates are also slated to review the field-level implementation of the new criminal laws, the deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics in active policing, coastal surveillance frameworks, and interstate road accident mitigation.
The coordination meeting aims to build an institutionalized mechanism for multi-agency intelligence-sharing, enabling joint operational strikes and faster investigations across state boundaries.
