Hyderabad, Jan 27 (TNT): BRS leader and Former Rajya Sabha MP, Joginipally Santosh Kumar, appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) here on Tuesday evening for questioning in connection with phone-tapping case, amid tight security at Jubilee hills pollce station.
He was questioned at the Jubilee Hills ACP office after receiving a Section 160 CrPC notice,which legally requires cooperation during investigation
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the alleged illegal and unauthorized phone-tapping operations during the previous BRS regime.
The phone-tapping operations, allegedly conducted by the then-Special Investigation Bureau (SIB), reportedly targeted political leaders, celebrities, Tollywood actors, journalists, and judges.
The SIT is also examining possible destruction of digital intelligence evidence, including data stored on electronic devices.
The 49-year-old Santosh is a close confidant and nephew of BRS president and former Chief Miniter K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
He was the third BRS leader to appear before SIT after BRS working president and former Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) and senior party leader and former Minister T Harish Rao, who appeared before the investigation team few days back.
Both KTR and Harish Rao had been grilled by the SIT for nearly seven hours.
Santosh is the Managing Director of Telugu media house, Namasthe Telangana in Telangana.
He is presently serving as General Secretary of Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
