TTD says 1.30 lakh agarbathi packs in stock, denies production unit closure reports

Tirupati, Oct 14 (TNT): Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Wednesday denied reports of the closure of its agarbathi manufacturing unit at the SV Gosamrakshana Shala in Tirupati, stating that production was continuing and 1.30 lakh packs were available in stock to meet devotees’ requirements during the ongoing Srivari Navaratri Brahmotsavams.

In a clarification, TTD said social media reports claiming that the unit had been closed were false.

The five-and-a-half-year contract with Bengaluru-based Darshan International had ended but was extended until October 31, 2026, to ensure uninterrupted supply, the temple administration said.

Agarbathi production has continued under the company’s supervision since October 1, with the same workers, it added.

TTD assured devotees that sufficient stocks were available and appealed to the public not to circulate unverified information that could hurt devotees’ sentiments.

It also urged media organisations to verify information with the concerned officials before publishing or broadcasting reports on the issue.
