South Central Railway Secures Seven ISO Certifications for Energy Management
The certifications cover Kacheguda Railway Station, Rail Nilayam (SCR headquarters), Central Hospital at Lallaguda, Lekha Bhavan (SCR Accounts Building) in Secunderabad, the Office of the Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Marketing) at the PRS Complex in Secunderabad, the Chief Crew Controller Office (Running Room) in Secunderabad and the Routine Overhauling Shed at Ramagundam.
The facilities were selected based on energy savings, reduction in specific energy consumption and the implementation of energy management practices in their respective operations.
The measures include efficient electrical supply and maintenance at railway stations and administrative buildings, monitoring power backup systems for PRS/UTS counters, maintenance of the disaster recovery data centre and power backup and cooling systems at the PRS Complex.
Energy conservation measures at the running room, which caters to crew management, rest rooms and catering, and energy management practices in routine overhauling, yard examination and sick-line maintenance of wagons at the Ramagundam shed also contributed to the recognition.
In a release, South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava congratulated the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, divisional railway managers of Secunderabad and Hyderabad, and their teams on the achievement.
He said SCR had been at the forefront of implementing energy conservation practices and expressed satisfaction over the zone’s continued recognition for its sustained efforts in energy management.
