Amazon Great Indian Festival Sees Record Opening, Orders Double Year-on-Year

Bengaluru, Oct 9 (TNT): Amazon India on Friday announced that its Great Indian Festival 2026 recorded its biggest-ever opening, with the number of products ordered increasing by more than 100 per cent year-on-year.

Customers from every pin code across the country placed orders for smartphones, consumer electronics, fashion, beauty, home appliances, kitchen products and daily essentials, the  e-commerce platform said in a release.

One in two customers used EMI options, while one in three units purchased came with cashback offers. Prime members saved more than twice as much as they did last year through exclusive offers, according to Amazon.

It said that in more than 120 cities served by Amazon Now, one in every two products was delivered within minutes.

Saurabh Srivastava, Vice-President, Amazon India, said the initial trends had exceeded expectations, with record growth in customer engagement, order volumes and delivery speed.

He attributed the response to discounts, exchange offers, no-cost EMI, bank offers and Amazon Pay Later.

Premium Android smartphone sales rose 70 per cent year-on-year, while MacBook Neo sales were 65 times higher than on a regular day.

Premium wearables recorded sales 80 times their usual daily levels.

Home entertainment sales increased 77 times compared with a regular day, with televisions measuring 55 inches and above accounting for 65 per cent of all TVs sold.

Premium home theatre systems recorded sales 100 times their usual levels during the first 12 hours.

Large appliance sales were 50 times higher than on a regular day, while refrigerators recorded a 60-fold increase. Fashion sales reached seven times their regular daily levels, with seven pairs of shoes sold every second. Levi’s denim sales rose to 30 times their usual levels, while more than 100 kurtas were sold every minute.

Beauty products accounted for one in four products purchased during the first 12 hours of the sale. Premium skin and hair care products sold at a rate of more than 150 units per minute, while luxury fragrances recorded sales of 12 units per minute.

Sales of soaps and shower gels were 19 times higher than on a regular day, with more than 800 units sold every minute, the company added.
