Actor Balakrishna mourns demise of legendary director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao
Hyderabad, Oct 4 (TNT): Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna on Sunday expressed deep grief over the demise of legendary filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, recalling his close association with the director and their collaboration on three acclaimed films.
In a statement, Balakrishna said Singeetam was very close to his family and recalled working with him in Aditya 369, Bhairava Dweepam and Sri Krishnarjuna Vijayam.
He said Aditya 369 created a new mark not only in Telugu cinema but also in Indian cinema, while Bhairava Dweepam, described by him as the first computer graphics-driven Telugu film, made history at the box office and remained unmatched among folklore films.
Balakrishna said the three films enabled him to portray characters across four major genres — social, historical, folklore and mythological — under Singeetam’s direction.
Recalling the filmmaker’s association with his family, Balakrishna said Singeetam began his career as an assistant to legendary director K V Reddy for the immortal film Mayabazar, in which his father had played Lord Sri Krishna for the first time.
He said Singeetam later worked as an associate on several films featuring his father, creating a special bond with the family that went beyond cinema.
Describing Singeetam as a legendary filmmaker, Balakrishna said he continued experimenting with cinema across various Indian languages until the age of 94.
His demise was a profound personal loss and an irreplaceable loss to the Indian film industry, Balakrishna said, conveying his heartfelt condolences to Singeetam’s family.
