CM Naidu, Chouhan launch construction of 3 lakh houses acorss AP under PMAY-G 2.0

Tenali(Guntur Dist.), Oct 4 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday laid the foundation for construction of three lakh houses across the state under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0 at Burripalem here.

Addressing the gathering, Naidu said the state government would achieve 100 per cent housing coverage by 2029.

He said the Centre had initially sanctioned 75,000 houses to Andhra Pradesh under the regular quota and subsequently approved three lakh houses following a request from the state government.

Naidu said the Centre would sanction another three lakh houses after completion of the ongoing construction and an additional three lakh houses next year, taking the total allocation to nine lakh houses.

The Chief Minister said 3D concrete printing technology would be introduced on a pilot basis at Burripalem and, following its successful implementation, 5,000 houses would be constructed using the technology to make Andhra Pradesh a model for 3D technology-based housing.

He said houses constructed using 3D technology were expected to provide better thermal comfort, with indoor temperatures around eight degrees Celsius lower than outside temperatures.

Naidu said the coalition government was committed to ensuring welfare and development reached all sections of society.

Under the Pattabhishekam initiative, long-pending land disputes had been resolved and house sites distributed to poor beneficiaries, he said.

He claimed that house sites worth Rs 52,000 crore had been provided in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Mangalagiri and other parts of the state.

Alleging irregularities in the housing programme during 2019-2024, Naidu said six lakh houses meant for the poor had been cancelled and some beneficiaries had been allotted sites in unsuitable locations, including tanks and hillocks.

As a result, nearly four lakh beneficiaries had returned their allotted house sites, he claimed.

The programme was attended by Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, MPs, MLAs and senior officials.
