Four women killed while travelling to attend funeral in Telangana; govt announces ex-gratia
Vikarabad(Telangana), Oct 3 (TNT): Four women were killed and 15 others injured when a private bus carrying 54 people, who were travelling to attend a funeral, overturned on the Ananthagiri Ghat road in Vikarabad district on Saturday.
The bus was travelling from Kesaram near Patancheru in Sangareddy district to Chintakunta in Dharur mandal when it reportedly veered off the road while descending the Ananthagiri Hills and overturned, police said.
Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to those seriously injured.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Vikarabad District Collector Deepak Tiwari inspected the accident site and directed officials to undertake immediate relief measures.
Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and directed authorities to provide the injured with immediate medical care while Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju to ensure advanced medical treatment for the injured.
Sridhar Babu visited the injured at the hospital and consoled the families.
He said a case had been registered against the bus management and driver and action would be taken against those responsible after a detailed inquiry.
