
Hyderabad, Feb 23 (TNT): Olectra Greentech Limited, part of the MEIL Group, on Monday announced that it has secured a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) through Evey Trans Pvt Ltd for the supply of 1,085 electric buses.
The buses will be deployed in Hyderabad under the PM E-DRIVE initiative being implemented by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) to accelerate the adoption of electric public transport across Indian cities, the Hyderabad based company said in a release here.
According to the company, the buses will be deployed in Hyderabad, strengthening the city’s clean and sustainable public transport system.
Olectra said it currently holds the leading market share in the electric bus segment in India.
The firm said it has deployed over 3,600 electric vehicles nationwide, maintains an order book exceeding 10,000 vehicles and has clocked more than 500 million green kilometres.
Managing Director Mahesh Babu termed the order a significant milestone in the company’s electric mobility journey and said it reinforces its commitment to indigenous manufacturing under the Make in India initiative.
He added that the company would work closely with TGSRTC to deliver efficient and sustainable public transportation solutions.
Equipped with advanced air suspension systems and lithium-ion battery packs offering a range of over 250 kilometres per charge, with opportunity charging capability of around 45 minutes, the buses to be supplied under the order will be 12-metre low-floor models in both air-conditioned and non-AC variants.
