Hyderabad, Feb 23 (TNT): South Central Railway (SCR) will organise a conclave on “Rail Parcel Logistics” at Rail Nilayam Auditorium, Secunderabad here on Feb 25.
During the conclave, it will launch a first-of-its-kind ‘Rail Parcel App’ aimed at providing seamless door-to-door parcel booking and delivery services to rail users, SCR Chief Public Relations Officer A. Sridhar said in a release here on Monday
SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest and formally launch the digital platform.
On the same occasion, SCR will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) for undertaking a comprehensive study on the freight logistics market across the zone.
Hyderabad Division of SCR will be the first division on Indian Railways to implement the pilot project.
The Rail Parcel App is a comprehensive digital platform integrating First Mile (doorstep pickup), Mid Mile (transportation by Railways), and Last Mile (doorstep delivery) services into a unified system.
The next-generation application will function as a one-stop solution for booking, tracking and managing parcel consignments, bringing together individuals, businesses, industry and logistics partners under a single digital ecosystem.
Key features of the Rail Parcel App include:Online booking and digital payments (net banking, debit/credit cards, UPI, etc.); Real-time parcel tracking; Seamless end-to-end service from doorstep pickup to doorstep delivery and Automated push notifications at every stage of parcel handling.
SCR officials said the initiative is expected to make parcel movement simpler, faster and more transparent, while enhancing customer convenience and expanding the Railways’ share in the logistics market.
Under the strategic collaboration, IIM Bangalore will conduct a detailed Freight Logistics Market Study and prepare division-wise business plans aimed at increasing the rail coefficient of freight traffic across the SCR network.
