Hyderabad police seize unauthorised Pakistan-origin cosmetics worth Rs 7 lakh

Hyderabad, Oct 2 (TNT): The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner’s Task Force, Rajendranagar Zone, in coordination with officials of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), seized unauthorised cosmetic products suspected to have been imported from Pakistan, worth approximately Rs 7 lakh, during inspections at three shops in Nampally.

The raids were conducted on September 30 at Beauty Ladies Emporium, Beauty Queen Shop and SJ Medical Shop in Habeeb Nagar, Nampally, following credible information about the sale and distribution of unauthorised cosmetic products. a police release said here on Friday.

CDSCO Drugs Inspectors Dr Sridhar Mittapally and Anjan Goud Pendem inspected the products and found that they were among the unauthorised cosmetics identified in the CDSCO/DCGI public notice dated September 8, 2026.

The products had not been issued the mandatory registration certificates required for import into India, officials said.

The seized stock included whitening creams and soaps marketed under brands such as Goree, Chandni, Faiz, Navia, Parlie Goldie, Aneeza, Noor Gold, Arzoo, Sandal, Face Fresh, Fakhra Gold, Stillmans, Golden Pearl, Sadaf and Welcome.

According to the CDSCO, certain products in this category were found to contain heavy metals exceeding permissible limits, which could pose health risks to consumers.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the products were allegedly procured through a Mumbai-based dealer or supplier suspected of arranging supplies from outside India and distributing them to dealers in Hyderabad.

The local sellers were also allegedly found to be without proper purchase bills, invoices and supporting documents for the products.

Police identified Mohammad Fazal and Mohammad Ayan of Beauty Ladies Emporium, Mohammad Riyazuddin of Beauty Queen Shop and Syed Abid Ali, proprietor of SJ Medical Shop, as persons allegedly involved in the sale of the products.

Syed Ismail, who runs Madina Cosmetic Shop in Santosh Nagar, was also allegedly found selling similar cosmetics. Police are verifying the source of procurement and the possible involvement of other persons.

The location and stock at a suspected godown are also being examined.

A case has been registered under Crime No. 245/2026 under Sections 123 and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 18-C and 27-A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

Further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain, establish the source of import, examine financial transactions and identify other persons involved in the alleged distribution network.

The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner appreciated the Commissioner’s Task Force, Rajendranagar Zone, and Habeeb Nagar Law and Order Police for detecting the alleged illegal sale of the cosmetics.

Police advised the public not to purchase or use the identified products and warned traders against their sale, distribution or advertisement.

Citizens have been urged to report information about their illegal sale, possession or transportation through Dial 112 or the Hyderabad City Police helplines.
