Sangareddy, Oct 1 (TNT): Kotak Mahindra Bank, in partnership with United Way Bengaluru and the Telangana Department of Women Development and Child Welfare, has refurbished five government schools in Narayankhed, Sangareddy district, under its Model School Project, an initiative expected to benefit around 2,200 students.

The project aims to improve school infrastructure and provide students with a safe and conducive learning environment, the Bank said in a release on Thursday.

The refurbishment covers civil, electrical and structural upgrades across classrooms, hostels, corridors, kitchens, dining areas and toilets.

The improvements include repairs, painting, waterproofing, electrical work, upgraded water and sanitation facilities, and the provision of essential classroom infrastructure.

The refurbished Telangana State Model School and Junior College at Pothulaboguda in Narayankhed was inaugurated by Sangareddy District Education Officer Rathikanti Rohini in the presence of representatives from the local administration, Kotak Mahindra Bank and United Way Bengaluru.

Kotak Mahindra Bank Senior Vice-President, Group CSR, Ridhi Bhatia said access to a safe and supportive learning environment was essential for children to realise their potential.

Strengthening school infrastructure could help encourage regular attendance and improve learning conditions, she added.

United Way Bengaluru CEO Rajesh Krishnan said the initiative sought to create safe, inclusive and engaging spaces that support students’ learning and overall development.

The bank said education was a key focus area of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, with the project aimed at strengthening the foundational conditions for learning and creating long-term benefits for local communities.
