Telangana CM Revanth promises ministerial berth to Congress candidate if elected from Sircilla
Sircilla, Sept 30 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday promised a ministerial berth to the Congress candidate if the party wins the Sircilla Assembly constituency in the next elections and called upon voters to defeat the BRS.
Addressing a public meeting in Sircilla, Reddy said he would personally take responsibility for the constituency’s development and urged people to reject what he described as the BRS’s “feudal rule”.
Targeting BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the Chief Minister demanded that he release a white paper on the assets and properties allegedly owned by him and his family members, including former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Harish Rao and Santosh Kumar.
Reddy questioned the source of the family’s wealth and referred to alleged properties and farmhouses in Janwada, Shankarpally, Moinabad and Erravalli.
He also raised questions about hospitality businesses near HITEC City and said he would disclose further details of KTR’s alleged investments in the United States and Singapore in a second instalment.
The Chief Minister challenged KTR to a debate in the Assembly on development during the 10-year BRS rule and the Congress government’s tenure.
He accused the previous government of failing to fulfil promises, including providing three acres of land to Dalit families, free education from kindergarten to postgraduate level and a job for every household.
Reddy also criticised KCR for not attending Assembly sessions and questioned his response to alleged derogatory remarks against the Dalit Speaker.
Referring to the Nerella incident, the Chief Minister alleged that Dalits had been subjected to police brutality during the previous BRS regime.
He accused the former government of concentrating power and key positions within the KCR family, while claiming that the Congress government had provided greater representation to Backward Classes, Dalits and women.
He urged Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud to ensure representation for the Padmashali community in the Legislative Council in the forthcoming MLC elections.
Listing his government’s initiatives, Reddy said Rs 1,730 crore had been spent on handloom weavers over the past two-and-a-half years, while Rs 1,500 crore had been allocated for the development of Vemulawada.
He also cited the establishment of Young India Schools, MRO offices and a women’s police station.
The Chief Minister said the government had released Rs 12,000 crore to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation over the past two-and-a-half years to support free bus travel for women.
He also accused the previous BRS government of delaying payments related to Bathukamma saree distribution.
Reddy said 75,000 jobs had been filled under the Congress government and that a special policy had been introduced to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to families of migrant workers.
He maintained that the Congress would remain in power in Telangana until 2034 and said his government was working to promote development despite the financial challenges inherited from the previous administration.
The BRS leaders’ response to the allegations was not available.
