Hyd: STAR Hospitals trains 5,000 people in CPR on World Heart Day
Hyderabad, Sept. 29 (TNT): STAR Hospitals, in association with the Janatha Hrudayalaya Foundation and the Cardiological Society of India–Telangana Chapter, trained around 5,000 students, staff and parents in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul in Moinabad on Tuesday to mark World Heart Day.
The programme was led by Dr M Hanumantha Reddy, Senior Interventional Cardiologist at STAR Hospitals, and aimed to equip participants with basic life-saving skills to respond to cardiac emergencies.
Abhilasha Bisht, IPS, DGP and Director of the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy and in-charge DGP (Training), Telangana, attended the programme as the chief guest.
Participants received hands-on training in CPR, with a focus on the importance of recognising cardiac emergencies and providing immediate assistance before professional medical help arrives.
Padma Shri Dr Gopichand Mannam, Founder and Managing Director of STAR Hospitals, said timely CPR could make a critical difference during cardiac emergencies.
He said the initiative was aimed at building a CPR-ready community by equipping people with the knowledge and confidence to respond to emergencies.
The programme, held as STAR Hospitals marked 18 years of service, reflected the hospital’s efforts to extend healthcare awareness beyond its premises, he added.
The event also highlighted the role of immediate bystander response alongside advanced medical care available at STAR Hospitals’ 24-hour centres in Banjara Hills and Nanakramguda.
