Ayurvedic Village Reopened at SICA Chanchalguda after Six-Year Gap

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (TNT ): The Ayurvedic Village at the State Institute of Correctional Administration (SICA) was formally inaugurated by Dr. Soumya Mishra, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, here on Monday.

The facility, a reformative and welfare initiative of the Prisons Department, has been reopened after a gap of six years.

Officials said the revival aims to integrate healthcare services with correctional rehabilitation.

The department said it plans to replicate the model by establishing similar Ayurvedic Villages in other prisons in the near future.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Soumya Mishra said the Ayurvedic Village would provide authentic Ayurvedic treatments and therapies at nominal cost, making traditional healthcare accessible to the general public.

She said the initiative also strengthens rehabilitation efforts by offering structured training to inmates in Ayurvedic therapies and wellness services, enabling them to acquire certified practical skills and improve employability after release.

Officials stated that the centre is fully operational with experienced Ayurvedic doctors, qualified therapists and trained staff to ensure quality service delivery.

The event was attended by senior prison officials, Ayurveda physicians and administrative staff.
