Odisha Woos Aluminium Downstream Industries with Angul Park Investment Pitch

Kolkata, Sept 28 (TNT): The Odisha government on Monday invited aluminium downstream manufacturers to invest in the Angul Aluminium Park, highlighting assured raw material access, industrial infrastructure and policy incentives as it seeks to attract investments and expand value-added manufacturing in the State.

The investment roadshow was organised here by National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) in association with ASSOCHAM, with participation from Odisha’s investment promotion agency IPICOL and industrial infrastructure agency IDCO.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy said Odisha accounted for around 60-70 per cent of India’s aluminium production and more than 70 per cent of its bauxite output.

He encouraged industries in West Bengal to explore downstream manufacturing opportunities in Odisha, citing the State’s established aluminium industry.

Keshav Chandra, Secretary in the Union Ministry of Mines, said a major expansion of NALCO’s operations in Odisha was under consideration.

The proposed expansion could increase raw material availability and support further investments in downstream industries.

The Angul Aluminium Park, a joint venture between IDCO and NALCO, is being developed as a hub for aluminium ancillary and downstream manufacturing.

Its proximity to NALCO’s smelter, along with common facilities and a dedicated molten-metal transportation corridor, is expected to improve raw material access and manufacturing efficiency.

Investment opportunities include aluminium extrusions, rolled products, packaging and battery foils, conductors, cables, castings, automotive components and recycling.

The initiative aims to promote higher-value production, generate skilled employment and strengthen opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises.

Odisha also highlighted the availability of industrial land, power and water infrastructure, a skilled workforce and port connectivity through Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur.

Eligible projects can avail themselves of incentives under the State’s industrial policy.

IPICOL said it would facilitate land identification, statutory approvals, incentives and project implementation.

The roadshow featured presentations on the park, industry experience-sharing and discussions on investor requirements.
