TTD Allocates Rs 1.50-Cr for Renovation of 200-Year-Old Pushkarini at Tarigonda Temple
Tarigonda, Sept 28 (TNT): Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has allocated Rs 1.50 crore for renovating the nearly 200-year-old Pushkarini at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Tarigonda, with TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu laying the foundation stone for the works on Monday.
Naidu directed officials to complete the renovation within the stipulated time while maintaining quality standards to ensure better facilities for devotees visiting the historic temple.
Speaking on the occasion, he noted that Tarigonda was the birthplace of Matru Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba and recalled that TTD had established an Annaprasadam distribution centre in Tirumala in her name.
TTD Joint Executive Officer A. Sharat said the renovation was part of the organisation’s efforts to promote temple visits and strengthen devotional activities. He appealed to people to visit temples and foster peace and harmony in society.
Sharat also said TTD had initiated work on the construction of 5,000 temples through the SVANI Trust, following directions from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The Pushkarini renovation at Tarigonda would be completed within the prescribed timeframe, he added.
The TTD Chairman was accorded a traditional Poornakumbha welcome by temple priests on arrival. He offered prayers to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and unveiled the foundation stone for the renovation project.
Pileru MLA Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy, TTD Board members G. Bhanu Prakash Reddy, Shantaram, Panabaka Lakshmi and Naresh Kumar, along with other officials, staff and priests, participated in the event.
