BRS Working Prez KTR challenges CM Revanth to deposit Rs 1 lakh crore among Telangana poor over land allegations
Hyderabad, Sept 18 (TNT): BRS Working President and former Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to deposit ₹1 lakh crore into the accounts of poor people across Telangana if the allegations that the KCR family owns land worth ₹1 lakh crore are true.
In a statement, KTR said his family was ready to transfer all the assets owned in its name if the Chief Minister deposited the claimed amount into the accounts of poor people in the state.
“Even if one per cent of the allegations you have made were true, I am making you an offer. We are ready to transfer all the assets we own. Will you deposit ₹1 lakh crore into the accounts of the poor people of Telangana?” KTR asked.
He demanded that Revanth Reddy stop what he termed a “malicious campaign” and apologise if he was unable to substantiate the allegations.
KTR alleged that the earlier campaign claiming that the KCR family owned a 1,000-acre farmhouse had failed and that a fresh campaign was now being launched alleging that the family owned land worth ₹1 lakh crore.
He claimed that Revanth Reddy had himself admitted in the Assembly that only 67 acres were part of former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s farm.
Despite this, the Chief Minister was again making what KTR described as fabricated allegations and conspiracies, KTR, the son of former Chief Minister KCR, he alleged.
KTR alleged that the campaign was aimed at diverting public attention from what he described as the Congress government’s failures during its 1,000 days in office.
He also alleged that the government was attempting to divert attention from the non-implementation of Congress’ electoral promises and the controversy surrounding 22-A lands.
Referring to allegations of a ₹1 lakh crore scam in the Kaleshwaram project made during the previous Assembly elections, KTR claimed that not a single rupee of corruption had been established so far.
He alleged that a similar tactic was now being used through the fresh allegations concerning ₹1 lakh crore worth of land.
KTR said KCR’s public life was an open book and recalled his role in the Telangana movement and his efforts to improve the lives of people in the state.
He alleged that farmers were currently facing difficulties due to power cuts, shortages of urea and problems relating to irrigation, and questioned the government’s focus on targeting the principal Opposition party instead of addressing these issues.
KTR further alleged that the Congress had promised two lakh jobs within its first year in office but had failed to fill even 10 per cent of them despite completing 1,000 days in power.
He accused the Chief Minister of making what he termed false and fabricated claims in the Assembly and said such conduct undermined the dignity of the legislature.
KTR also alleged that the ₹1 lakh crore land scam referred to by the Chief Minister was linked to the inclusion of 1.20 crore acres of land in the prohibited list under Section 22-A.
He accused the Revanth Reddy government of what he termed “illegal deals and blackmail politics” and alleged that the government was focused on “looting and scams”.
KTR said the BRS would expose what it alleged were corruption, irregularities and scams under the Congress government if it returned to power and recover every rupee allegedly misappropriated.
