KL University faculty honoured for innovation in higher education

Hyderabad, Aug 27 (TNT): KL Deemed to be University faculty member Dr Pisini Sai Vijay, Director of the Student Activity Centre (SAC), has been honoured with the “Change-Maker in Higher Education Innovation” award at the Bharat Education Summit 2026 held at Meydan Expo Centre, HITEC City, Hyderabad.

The award recognised his contribution to student development and efforts to connect education, technology and individual interests with real-world societal challenges.

The Bharat Education Summit brought together educators, innovators, educational institutions and skill-development stakeholders.

The event also featured the Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Ignited Mind Awards for Higher Education, recognising individuals and institutions contributing to innovation and transformation in the education sector.

Sai Vijay was recognised for promoting a student-centric approach that takes learning beyond conventional classrooms and examinations.

Through the KL Student Activity Centre, students are encouraged to identify societal and community challenges and use their skills, creativity, technology and multidisciplinary knowledge to develop practical solutions.

The initiative focuses on encouraging students to move from learning merely to fulfil academic requirements to learning with the aim of creating outcomes, the university said in a release here on Thursday.

The Student Activity Centre provides opportunities in technology, liberal arts, culture, sports, innovation, entrepreneurship, community outreach, health and wellness. These activities help students develop leadership, teamwork, creativity, problem-solving and social responsibility skills.

KL Deemed to be University Vice-Chancellor Dr G. Pardha Saradhi Varma said higher education should empower students to translate knowledge into meaningful action.

The university encourages students to discover their strengths, explore their interests and apply their knowledge to real-world challenges, he said, adding that the Student Activity Centre plays an important role in providing opportunities to learn beyond the classroom.

The university said it remains committed to holistic student development and outcome-oriented education through its academic departments and student-focused initiatives.
