Rs.1.50 Cr equipment for Kakinada sanitation improvement

Kakinada , Aug 22 (TNT): The state government has provided  Rs.1.50 cr worth of Tippers and sanitation implements for improving the sanitation in Kakinada smart city .

The tippers were inaugurated by the city MLA Kondababu and District Collector M N Harendhira Prasad at a function held at Ananda Bharati grounds here as a part of ` Swachandra- Swarnandhra’ programme.

Welcoming the guests, Municipal Commissioner NVV Satyanarayana said that every third Saturday was being observed as ` Swarnandhra- Swachandhra’ programme under the instructions from the Chief Minister and this month it is observed under the theme ` clean cities -Green communities .

The Commissioner said that creating more awareness among the people is the main aim of the programme.

He said more tippers, fogging machines and sprayers and other equipment would be coming and already orders were placed for purchasing them.

Collector Harendhira Prasad said that officials were striving hard  to develop Kakinada as a clean and green city.` Sanitation is not  the responsibility of the Government machinery alone but of each and every family and the entire community.

For developing greenery in the city  people should take up rain water harvesting and terrace gardening along with the raising plants’ the Collector added.

MLA Kondababu has advised the people to reduce the plastic usage as far as possible and cooperate with the Municipal authorities by not throwing plastic wastes in to the canals and drains .

Later, the MLA and the Collector have distributed uniform and sanitation implements to the sanitation workers .  TNT TMR
