
Hyderabad, Feb 17 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said that BioAsia 2026 reflects Hyderabad’s emergence as a global life sciences hub and expressed confidence that the event would soon gain recognition on the lines of the World Economic Forum at Davos.
Inaugurating BioAsia 2026 at HITEX along with IT & Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, the Chief Minister said Hyderabad has the potential to rise from being a global vaccine capital to becoming a global life sciences capital.
He said Telangana’s strong vision and clear policy framework, availability of highly qualified human resources and presence of reputed educational institutions would support this transition.
Stating that Hyderabad has emerged as a preferred destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), he said the city offers excellence in research and design.
“In the last two years, we have received over Rs 73,000 crore investments in life sciences,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted key initiatives including the launch of the Telangana Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy at Davos, expansion of Genome Valley, rollout of 1Bio as a world-class research and innovation initiative, acceleration of Green Pharma City and the opening of various GCCs in Hyderabad.
He said Hyderabad is the preferred destination to set up GCCs, build innovation engines, design molecules and drugs, manage clinical analytics, build AI platforms and drive digital manufacturing.
“From bulk drugs to biologics, from manufacturing to innovation, from India to the world, Telangana is moving up the value chain,” he said, adding that the city has emerged as a trusted, stable and future-ready ecosystem.
With more than 4,000 delegates representing 500 leading life sciences companies from across the world participating in the event, the Chief Minister remarked that BioAsia could surpass its name and become “Bio-World”.
Later, he presented the Genome Valley Excellence Award to Prof. Bruce Levine of the University of Pennsylvania.
