Rajasthan: Amit Shah launches Rs 6,453-Cr Development Works in Alwar
Alwar (Rajasthan), Aug 16 (TNT) : Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 954 development works of the Rajasthan government involving a total cost of Rs 6,453 crore in Alwar.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and other dignitaries were present at the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Shah said empowerment of youth, poor, farmers and women was essential for India to achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
He said Bhoomi Pujan was performed for a 3 lakh-litre-per-day milk processing plant in Alwar, with plans to increase its capacity to 5 lakh litres. The facility would help livestock rearers increase their income and strengthen the rural economy.
Shah said the dairy and cooperative sectors had considerable potential to transform the rural economy and improve the livelihoods of livestock rearers.
He said the government was working to take high milk-yielding breeds of cows and buffaloes to households across Rajasthan.
He said four Saras Dairy plants costing Rs 274 crore were also becoming operational in Bhilwara, Jaipur, Pali and Rajsamand. Four district cooperative banks were being launched in Phalodi, Balotra, Didwana-Kuchaman and Pratapgarh, through which farmers would be provided loans at zero per cent interest.
Shah said Rs 152 crore under the Chief Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme had been transferred through DBT, while more than Rs 667 crore had been disbursed to 67 lakh farmers under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Samman Nidhi at the rate of Rs 1,000 per farmer.
He said development works worth Rs 5,500 crore had been launched in Chittorgarh earlier in the day and, with the Rs 6,453 crore projects launched in Alwar, development works worth Rs 11,953 crore had been taken up in Rajasthan in a single day.
Shah said Rajasthan had around 44,000 cooperative societies and the government’s objective was to ensure that every village in the State had a cooperative society.
He said 50 new warehouses would be constructed during 2026-27, while 62 warehouses with a capacity of 100 metric tonnes and 100 warehouses with a capacity of 500 metric tonnes had already been completed.
Highlighting the Centre’s initiatives for farmers since 2014, Shah listed various schemes launched over the years, including the Gokul Mission, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, Soil Health Card, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, e-NAM, Kisan Sampada Yojana, Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Ministry of Cooperation and Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.
He said the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had undertaken the highest procurement of foodgrains at Minimum Support Price (MSP). The MSP of bajra had increased by 130 per cent, mustard by 103 per cent, wheat by 84 per cent, cotton by 120 per cent and jowar by 168 per cent, he said.
Shah said the government’s objective was to make every village prosperous through the cooperative sector and called for translating the principle of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” into reality.
