Rs 1,356-Cr sustainable aviation fuel unit to come up in Kakinada: AP Dy CM Pawan Kalyan

Kakinada, Aug 15 (TNT): A greenfield sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 1,356.22 crore would be established in Kakinada district, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said on Saturday.

Addressing the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Police Parade Grounds here after hoisting the National Flag, Pawan Kalyan said approval had been accorded to SAF One India Espicompact for establishing the unit.

He said Kakinada was being developed as a green hydrogen production and research hub. Foundation had already been laid for a green ammonia and green hydrogen plant on 495 acres at an investment of Rs 13,000 crore, which was expected to generate employment for around 2,600 people.

The district had abundant natural resources that could support industrial development and employment generation, he said, adding that the government was implementing policies to promote industrial growth.

The AP MSME Entrepreneur Development Policy had been formulated with the objective of creating “one industrialist-one family” by 2030, Pawan Kalyan said.

On renewable energy, he said rooftop solar systems had been installed in 11,933 houses in Kakinada district under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, creating a generation capacity of 37,981.38 KW.

Under the SC/ST Solarisation scheme, rooftop solar plants of two KW capacity had been installed for 5,593 services, he said.

Solar power plants with a combined capacity of 42 MW were being established across 51 agricultural feeders under the PM-KUSUM scheme to ensure quality daytime power supply to the agriculture sector.

As many as 824 free agricultural power connections had been provided up to the end of July, he said.

The government was taking steps to improve power supply in rural areas and provide nine hours of uninterrupted quality power to the agriculture sector, he said.

Pawan Kalyan also highlighted progress in irrigation, housing, rural development, animal husbandry and the public distribution system in the district.

Earlier, Pawan Kalyan and his wife Anna Konidela were received at the venue by Collector Haridendra Prasad, SP Bindu Madhav, Joint Collector Apurva Bharat and Trainee Collector Priya.

Kakinada Lok Sabha MP Thangella Uday Srinivas, Rajya Sabha MP Sana Sathish Babu, MLCs Perabathula Rajasekharam and Karri Padmasri, Kakinada Urban Development Authority Chairman Thalatam Satya, TTD Board member and MLA Jyothula Nehru, MLAs Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, Vanamadi Kondababu, Pantham Nanaji and Varupula Satya Prabha, State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Thota Sridhar and DCCB Chairman Tummala Ramaswamy were among those present.
