PM Modi pays tribute to Partition victims, calls for harmony and brotherhood

New Delhi, Aug 14 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to those affected by Partition, saying their courage and resilience in rebuilding their lives after the traumatic period demonstrated the strength of the human spirit.

Marking Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, Modi said Partition tore apart several lives, uprooted families, separated loved ones and caused immense suffering.

At the same time, people who endured the tragedy rebuilt their lives from nothing, overcame adversity and made significant contributions to the country’s progress, he said.

Their life journeys were a reminder of the strength of the human spirit, the Prime Minister said, expressing hope that the day would deepen the resolve to preserve harmony and brotherhood and work collectively towards building a Viksit Bharat.

He paid heartfelt tributes to those who emerged from the difficult period and contributed to the nation’s development, saying their courage and capability showed that determination could overcome even adverse circumstances.

In a series of posts on X, Modi also called for strengthening the national spirit of goodwill and solidarity.

Sharing a Subhashitam, the Prime Minister stressed that hard work, enterprise and dedicated effort lead to the flourishing of arts, science, technology, craftsmanship and innovation.

He said people should not depend on fate but move steadily towards their goals with courage, diligence and persistent effort, as human endeavour shapes destiny.
