Man Posing as Reporter Held for Intimidation, Assault in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Aug 14 (TNT): Mehdipatnam Police have registered a case against a 32-year-old man who allegedly intimidated a woman by claiming to be a media reporter and later assaulted her. The accused was arrested and remanded to judicial custody, police said on Friday.
The accused, Arif Hussain (32), a resident of Rahul Colony, Tolichowki, works as a reporter for SNZ YouTube News Channel, according to police.
Police said Hussain allegedly used his position as a reporter to threaten and intimidate the woman.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the 31-year-old victim , police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
A case was registered under Sections 64(2)(m) and 123 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 7 read with Section 8 of the POCSO Act, police said.
Following the investigation, Hussain was taken into custody and produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
Mehdipatnam Inspector S Mallesh advised people not to succumb to intimidation or threats from individuals misusing their position or designation and urged them to report such incidents to the police through Dial-112.
Strict legal action would be taken against those found intimidating, harassing or threatening people by misusing their position, the Inspector added.
