Hyderabad-Based AkinAnalytics Launches Indigenous NIKA2 Kisan Medium Drone
Hyderabad, Aug 14(TNT): Hyderabad-based women-led DeepTech and Defence Technology startup AkinAnalytics on Friday said it has launched its indigenous NIKA2 Kisan Medium Drone, with a focus on strengthening technology-driven solutions for agriculture and other field-intensive sectors.
The drone was unveiled by Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi, where he also witnessed a demonstration of the platform, the Startup company said in a release here.
The NIKA2 is a multi-payload agricultural drone with a 16-litre spraying capacity and 12-litre spreading capacity.
Its payload-change mechanism allows operators to switch between spraying and spreading applications, enabling the same platform to undertake multiple agricultural operations.
The drone is equipped with terrain-following, fail-safe and night-operation capabilities, making it suitable for agricultural areas with uneven and sloping terrain. Its applications also extend to aquaculture feed distribution, the company said.
The terrain-following feature could be particularly useful in plantation regions, including tea-growing areas of Shillong and Meghalaya, where conventional aerial operations can be challenging.
AkinAnalytics is also developing an AI-Augmented Drone Analytics Platform and Digital Twin technologies for applications across agriculture, aquaculture, plantations, mining, energy, infrastructure and defence.
The company said these technologies are aimed at converting drone and field data into actionable intelligence for inspection, measurement, monitoring and operational decision-making.
Founder and CEO Janaki Pulaparthi, a Computer Science Engineer and ISB alumna, is leading the company’s efforts to develop indigenous intellectual property and deployable DeepTech solutions.
The startup has received support through NIDHI PRAYAS, Startup India Seed Fund Scheme and MeitY SAMRIDH and has participated in the iDEX defence innovation ecosystem and Stanford Seed Spark programmes.
AkinAnalytics also operates a DGCA-authorised Remote Pilot Training Organisation in Amalapuram, Andhra Pradesh, linking indigenous drone technology with skilling and workforce development.
“Our focus is on solving real problems through technology that is designed and developed in India. With NIKA2, we want to make drone technology more versatile and useful for farmers while building capabilities that can eventually serve multiple industries and geographies,” Janaki Pulaparthi said.
The company said the launch is part of its broader “Make in India, Go Global” vision to develop technology in India, validate it in real-world conditions and take indigenous DeepTech solutions to global markets.
